Point To Communicate Booklets
Point to Communicate is the brain child of Arlene Disbrow. Her father had Parkinson’s disease, but unlike the actor Michael J. Fox who also suffers from Parkinson’s, he lost his voice. He was unable to write due to constant shaking. Arlene Disbrow created a system empowering him to make health care/ medical decisions, communicate his needs, and improve the quality of his life. Her booklet of pictures and words allowed her father to regain his integrity by simply pointing to the appropriate picture. She currently offers two distinct booklets. One is for people who are at home, and unable to communicate with their families, friends and health care providers. The other is for people who are living in nursing homes. Each booklet was created to meet the essential needs of a person in a particular environment. There will be additional booklets to come in the near future for hospital, assisted care, children, and for other environments. Want to know more?
