PPD (Wilmington, North Carolina) plans to expand its operations in Bellshill, Lanarkshire (Scotland, UK), doubling its employees to over 700. The company will invest up to £15 million ($30 million) over the next three years to expand its offices, creating 390 new jobs in biostatistics, data management, pharmacovigilance, product development, and clinical trial management and monitoring.
Located in Strathclyde Business Park, PPD currently employs some 350 staff in Scotland. The investment will include the construction of a new 34,000 sq ft facility next to the company's Fleming House offices, which were officially opened in February 2007 and also cover 34,000 sq ft. PPD will continue to retain its 12,000 sq ft premises at Avondale House in Strathclyde Business Park until the new facility is completed.
