Business Women Connect Presents FREE Sexual Assault Prevention Training And Indiana Fever Game

Business Women Connect will present a FREE sexual assault prevention training session on Wednesday, August 15 beginning at 5:00 pm. The event is open to all women in the Indianapolis area and includes a complimentary ticket to the Indiana Fever game.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Aug 07, 2007 – Business Women Connect (BWC) will present a FREE sexual assault prevention training session on Wednesday, August 15 beginning at 5:00 pm. The event is open to all women in the Indianapolis area.

The free training is the first in BWC’s famous Escape Plan: Sexual Assault Prevention Training three-part series. The event, hosted by Pacers Sports and Entertainment, will be held at the Conseco Field House, giving each participant adequate room to get involved in the rigorous, hands-on program. Participants will be moving, twisting and kicking, so they are encouraged to dress comfortably.

Check-in for the event begins at 5:00 pm; training begins at 5:30. Following the training, program graduates will be recognized in a mid-court ceremony. As an added bonus, each participant will receive a complimentary ticket to that night’s Indiana Fever game, courtesy of the Community Health Network.

“While much has been done to ensure the safety of women in the Indy area, we realize that the police can not be everywhere at all times,” says Karen Kell, BWC managing partner and Escape Plan program coordinator. “Through the Escape Plan series, we are helping women take some responsibility for their own safety and security. The skills the women will learn through this program are life-saving.”

The Escape Plan: Sexual Assault Prevention Training series is designed to dispel the myths that most women have learned about keeping themselves safe. Through persistent hands-on training, the program will:
·   reveal 3 secret weapons every woman can easily use to defend herself - without having to stop and think
·   dispel everything most women think they know about keeping themselves safe – everything they’ve learned is probably wrong
·   expose the truth about how people react during an attack – it’s not at all what most women expect

“It’s amazing how much of what we’re traditionally taught about self defense is wrong!” says Linda Rendleman, BWC founder and CEO. “It’s imperative that we present this training to as many women as possible, so we’re thrilled that we can provide this program at no charge. And we’re grateful that Community Health Network has stepped in with complimentary Fever tickets and allowed us to keep this event free.”

The event is open to every woman in the Indianapolis area, but pre-registration is mandatory. Registration is available on the BWC website at http://www.BusinessWomenConnect.com.
