Icelandair has launched Toronto ( http://www.icelandair.co.uk ) as its second Canadian destination following an open skies agreement which will see flights to Canada via Iceland become an increasingly attractive option from the UK and Europe.
The agreement between Iceland and Canada allows airlines of both countries to operate flights between any city in Canada and Iceland without restrictions on the number of flights.
Apart from Toronto, Icelandair already operates flights to Halifax in Canada and are considering further new routes to Montreal, Winnipeg, Ottawa and St. John. Icelandair will offer 5-7 flights per week to Toronto, the largest city in Canada and main transportation hub. Flight time will be around 5 hours 30 minutes from Keflavik International Airport.
“We are confident that (Toronto) will become a popular destination.....it‘
Icelandair ( http://www.icelandair.co.uk ) currently offers flights and package deals to Iceland and the US and Canada from London Heathrow, Manchester and Glasgow, as well as from 14 other European cities. US destinations on offer are New York, Boston, Washington / Baltimore, Orlando and Minneapolis.
Passengers travelling on to North America can break their transatlantic journey with a free 7 night stop-over in Iceland, giving enough time for a quick dip in the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa or a longer stay on the magical island.
Icelandair also recently introduced a new fares structure which gives passengers the option of booking one-way flights and is one of the first airlines to order the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
