It's appropriate that the Bullet - a monthly club at Safari Sams in Hollywood which celebrates 1960's garage and soul music - is throwing its debut Labor Day Weekend bash at sin City's Aruba Hotel & Spa, itself a living throwback (where nobody seems to have actually seen the spa). The Bullet is a true Mod Mecca, but don't expect going-through-
the-motions veteran groups with no original members punching the clock - oh no, the Bullet brings together contemporary young bands and DJ's (this year including The Love Me Nots, The Untouchables, The New Fidelity, Her Grace The Duchess and international DJ's like Frank Popp) who have scoured vinyl bins and thrift stores for suitably snappy 60's sounds and threads. Like all such minority-interest events, this 3-dayer will have that warm sense of camaraderie that comes from far-flung like-minds coming together to indulge their passion.
