Excerpt from Sir Charles Cary's bio
"Charles Cary, aka Sir Charles came through the mean streets of Harlem, NY. Although he is originally from Washington, DC...his story may have been the same regardless of where he came from.
Charles was an introvert, a follower, an average uncertain child all of his life until...he found music. As a child he would mimic an imitate many of the artists that he heard on the radio. He later learned that music was a very intricate part of his family’s life (from gospel to r&b).
Although he was very shy Charles seemed to find peace and oneness with music, which he kept very close to his heart. Through his teens he would sing with choirs and ensembles. In high school he started experimenting with drugs not knowing that it was the beginning of a long, long trip nowhere.
The drugs seemed to give him the courage he was seekign to try those music solos, and to fit in with his peers. By the time he reached his mid-twenties...Charles was a full blown drug addict with a minimum of $50 a day habit. He tried everything except intravenous drug use.
At that time he continued to pursue a fairly active music career. He's performed regularly for years...inside and outside of the US. Many performances were at very well know venues (Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center). Charles recorded and sat in on studio sessions with many well known artists (Freddy Jackson, Jocelyn Brown, Paul Laurence Jones, Fred McFarland, and Russell Patterson to name a few).
Today Charles is clean and travels the country motivating others through his story, song and poetry"
