Christy Clayton and Cross Canadian Ragweed Bring 'Red Dirt' Country Music to Las Vegas

Christy Clayton and Cross Canadian Ragweed introduce ‘red dirt’ country and southern rock at the South Point Casino's last poolside concert of the year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Aug 03, 2007 – LAS VEGAS, NV, AUGUST 1, 2007— Desert Funk Records recording artist and ‘Texas Country’ siren, Christy Clayton, will open for Oklahoman power group Cross Canadian Ragweed this Thursday, August 2 at 7pm (PST) at the South Point Casino’s last poolside concert of the year.

“Cross Canadian Ragweed is like an institution back in Texas and Oklahoma; we couldn’t be more proud to be playing with them,” stated Clayton, “I think our styles will complement one another nicely.”

Last Thursday, Clayton and her band performed at UNPLUGGED House of Blues Las Vegas before a packed house.

"’UNPLUGGED’ has been in existence for over a year and a half, featuring up-and-coming artists who are touring, recording and really ready to "break." Christy Clayton's performance was one of our best yet! She not only delivered her songs with energy and passion, but she entertained the packed room - packed largely due to her presence on the show - for her entire set. She's definitely ready to "break" and absolutely someone you want to book on your show, tour, or sign to your label," said Michael Soli, “UNPLUGGED” producer and host.

After the House of Blues the band headed to Tulsa, OK for Dfest, the Midwest’s most comprehensive music festival for emerging artists, where they played before a lively crowd at Dirty’s Tavern. The show at South Point will complete a busy week of playing and traveling at a pace the band hopes to sustain.

“We’re hoping appearances with the likes of CCR will serve as a springboard for booking future shows in Texas and the Midwest; that’s where Christy’s music will resonate with the most people,” said Greg Stricklin, Clayton’s writer/producer/lead guitar player.

South Point show tickets are $22 at the box office: 1-866-796-7111.

Clayton’s current standings on the Myspace Music Charts are: Texas Americana #1; Texas Southern Rock #3; Texas Country #8. Worldwide standings: Americana #4; Southern Rock #13; Country #42.

Clayton’s debut CD Devil’s Paradise is available in FYE stores and online at iTunes.com, Rhapsody.com and more. For details and music samples, visit http://www.christyclayton.com or http://www.myspace.com/christyclaytonband.
