Dr. Abdul Kalam joins EMRI’s Governing Board as Chairman Emeritus

Dr. Abdul Kalam has joined the Governing Board of Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) as Chairman Emeritus.

EMRI, a non-profit organization has been providing comprehensive emergency response services since August 2005 supporting the Vision of Andhra Pradesh Government to provide free emergency response service to every citizen of the State at international standards.  Using three digit toll-free number ‘108’, a large network of well-equipped ambulances providing pre-hospital care, Police and Fire services,  so far EMRI has been able to save 13,000 lives by benchmarking with best in the World. EMRI now covers entire population of Andhra Pradesh.

EMRI has many international alliances and partners such as Stanford University, Shock Trauma Center - Baltimore, National Emergency Number Association of USA and Singapore Health, etc.

Dr. Kalam says “I am quite delighted with this opportunity to participate in scaling up EMRI to national level in Public Private Partnership (PPP) frame work and extremely happy to associate with EMRI which is focusing on saving lives using World class processes and technologies serving people of India in emergencies”.
