Tour Description :
Once you are in our private air conditioned vehicles, we will head down the coast of Colon city into the Panama Canal area (Gatun Locks) after a 20 min bus ride. Upon arrival, the group will head into the observation deck where you will visualize ships and functioning of the Panama Canal with detailed explanations and history. The Panama Canal Visitor center counts with a restaurant and bar that will allow you to enjoy the views while enjoying some of Panama’s dishes!
Furthermore, an authentic ecological tour will follow once the departure of the Gatun Locks. We will take you into a 200 hectare Private Rain Forest on the highest point of Colon City. This private park is and continues to be of particular interest to scientists, leading to the discovery of a new species of amphibian, endemic to the area Atelopus limosus. Also mammals, birds, butterflies and insects are to be found. We will be able to experience the walking trails La Poza and El Colibri to four kilometers ( 2.5 miles ) trough the rain forest, improving steps and handrails with natural logs, including observation and resting stations with native "bohios" and "mirador", all of this plus a hammock to nap, will make your visit a very comfortable and a different experience. El Manakin trail called like this in behalf of the Red-capped and Blue-crowned Manakin found in the area, offers a great view of the forest.
