The content of the book was in my mind long before print. I became concerned by the incidence of ill health within the church and more importantly, was given a revelation that much of the ill health we pray to be healed from can be dealt with through simple dietary changes - something the church as a whole is relatively ignorant about. It was really after the death of my father and brother that the inspiration came to put it into print.
I look up to quite a few authors, in particular Juanita Bynum and TD Jakes. I like the fact that they write from personal experience and so the words and advice is real. Being real is very important to me as a reader. In addition they are divinely anointed which I have learnt is crucial to success.
I currently work full time in the food industry as a nutritionist, however when I was writing the book I was working freelance and so it worked very well for me.
It is a feeling of great achievement knowing that my book is now in print. Nothing happens before the time and truly the topic of nutrition in the church is for such a time as this. I know God has a purpose for this message and that further enhances the feeling of achievement and fulfilment. The book provides an opportunity for readers to educate themselves on what the Bible says concerning the physical health of the body in a practical, user friendly way. Feedback has been very positive. My friends and family and very supportive but also help to keep me grounded. Without them this journey would have been very difficult for me and I am eternally grateful for the people God has placed around me to build me up and keep me on the straight and narrow.
I am not writing another book yet but I am concentrating on using this first publication to raise awareness of this important theme. Once the timing is right I will look at producing another publication on a relevant area of nutrition.
Who knows where the Lord will lead? I never in a million years thought I would be writing and presenting on this topic in the Christian circuit. Ideally I would like to eventually work in full time ministry in the area of nutrition - preaching, teaching and ministering in song. I would like to have a facility whereby church members - and indeed non-church members - can be given personal advice on their physical health pertaining to their individual circumstances. If it be God's will, I know nothing is too difficult for Him
I would like leaders to catch this vision of nutrition and health and incorporate it on a regular basis in their church programmes. Whether through seminars, Sunday schools and Sabbath schools, preaching etc. It is not an area we can continue to neglect. Indeed our eating habits can ultimately affect our destiny and purpose.
About the book - The Creator's Diet:
"A challenging read. The Creator’s Diet tackles some difficult biblical issues on food and diet and brings out a clear healthy eating message. Packed with verses from the Bible directing the reader to a healthy food plan for all. God’s word and nutritional science intertwined in complement". Nicole Berberian Nutritionist Channel Five News "Sensing the importance of the issue at hand Nicola Burgher approaches the subject of healthy eating as consummate professional. Not only does she possess the qualifications to address the subject but she has under-girded her study with the fundamental principles of the Bible. It is upon this that the strength of her work lies and it is reminiscent of the book Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss published first in 1946. Ms Burgher takes us back to the beginning and to the Creator and reminds us that there is a better way to live if we follow the Creator's manual. Nicola Burgher has written a must read book for the survival of this generation and generations to come."
