This is my first book. I am 31 and discovered I enjoyed pouring thoughts on paper while doing my research work in school. The research was good, but what I enjoyed more was the ability to capture my thoughts in words with relative ease. I started writing 4 years ago when I realised I had inside me revelation and knowledge that can benefit others.
My inspiration ultimately is from God. He gave me a theme to write on and guided me every step of the way.
When I begin to write I ask a few questions - what is central theme? Who are my potential readers? Do I have enough content / experience / knowledge to complete this work? When all these questions are answered, I start writing around the theme.
My favourite author is John Maxwell. He is an authority on the subject I write on - leadership, so I tend to draw a lot of insights from his book. I find that he uses many practical examples to drive home his messages. I also have great respect for Rick Warren who captivates me from the moment I begin to the end.
Now that my book has been published I feel a sense of accomplishment, fulfilment and achievement.
It can be a challenge working and writing at the same time. I work fairly long hours so the only time I have to read or write is my long commute between work and home. Weekends are taken up by family and ministerial engagements.
Family and friends have been kind to provide constructive feedback on the book. It is helpful to know the strong points of the book and also very beneficial to know areas of improvement through these feedbacks.
I am working on a second book at the moment and target to publish early in 2008.
I plan to continue writing. I have a passion for leadership and politics and currently driving some voluntary initiatives (using an NGO vehicle) in these areas, which may eventually lead me into active
political participation in my home country. This is long term. In the mean time, I will continue to build a career while ensuring I am available to serve and work on various community development initiatives.
I have a huge focus on family and success at home. I am married and have 2 daughters. I also serve on pastoral board of our local church assembly.
