FIT2RUN PARTNERS WITH SARASOTA MARATHON
University Parkway “Runners Superstore” is Gold Sponsor
SARASOTA, Fla., July 25, 2007—Fit2Run, “The Runner’s Superstore” at University Center shops, recently announced its support as a Gold Sponsor of the 2008 Sarasota Marathon, scheduled for March 8, 2008.
The retailer joins a growing list of prominent local sponsors that includes ABC 7, Sarasota Memorial and the Ringling Museum, among others.
“We are delighted to welcome Fit2Run as Gold Sponsor,” said race coordinator Lisette Riveron. “They are well positioned to provide both products and expertise to marathon runners at every level. Their team has developed some incredibly innovative ways to help runners find the perfect shoe.”
Fit2Run houses 10,000 square feet of retail space containing everything needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including more than 150 running, walking, and leisure footwear styles, fitness equipment and 3,000 square feet of active apparel. The store also features an all-natural juice bar called the Juice Kaboose.
“We are pleased to partner with the 2008 Sarasota Marathon and serve as a one-stop shop to area athletes,” said Parks Robinson, general manager of Fit2Run. “We’re looking forward to taking care of the many Marathon runners during the weeks and months ahead.”
Bill Robinson, owner of Fit2Run, is the former owner of Robby’s Sports, a sporting goods retail chain headquartered in Bradenton that is now Champs Sports. Together with Parks, his son, the team has created new ways to help runners find the perfect shoe.
Runners and walkers can participate in Fit2Run's gait analysis service to determine if they have any foot problems. After being videotaped while walking on a treadmill, the individual’s foot strike is analyzed and with input from the staff pedorthist, Fit2Run can recommend the perfect shoe.
In addition, the iStep® system with 1,024 barometric sensors and patented infrared footwear technology can perform a complete mapping of an athlete’s feet in less than 30 seconds. This is another technology offered at Fit2Run that ensures the proper fit when choosing a running or walking shoe. Runners and walkers can even try out their new shoes on the official Mondo track that circles the store’s center.
“Before you start training, let Fit2Run make sure you’re in the right shoe,” Parks Robinson says.
Fit2Run is located in University Center at 8123 Cooper Creek Blvd. at the northwest corner of University Parkway and I-75. The store is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. For more information, call 941.358.5100 or visit www.fit2run.com.
