Event Proceeds to Benefit VH1 Save the Music

Charleston, SC, July 24, 2007- Musicorp, a leading distributor of musical instruments, accessories and lighting equipment, is pleased to partner with Remo in facilitating community drum circles at Charleston, South Carolina’s second inaugural Music & Heritage Festival (ChazzFest)! Chazzfest is a weeklong celebration, with the main event taking place at the Daniel Island Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston on Saturday, September 22nd, 2007 from 9am until sundown. Twelve thousand attendees are expected this year with such national musical acts as Kool & the Gang, Branford Marsalis, Galactic, Toots & the Maytals and Son Volt.

The Musicorp and Remo drum circles will give the general public a chance to become actively engaged in the music festival. Two separate drum circle sessions will be held, one on Friday, September 21st at 11:00am, exclusively for Charleston middle-school students, and a larger one on Saturday September 22nd at 2:15pm that will be open to the general public. A limited number of hand drums will be given away to participants as souvenirs to commemorate their experience.

In support of VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Musicorp will also donate a Sierra acoustic guitar, an Arbor electric guitar, a Barcus-Berry acoustic-electric violin and a Percussion-Plus 5-piece drum set to be raffled off at Chazzfest. Performing artists will autograph the instruments, which will be on display in a Musicorp booth during the Saturday event. Raffle tickets will be sold in the booth, and winners will be announced at the center court stage immediately before Branford Marsalis takes the stage!

VH1 Save the Music Foundation has provided more than $34 million worth of new musical instruments since 1997 to over 1,400 schools in 80 communities, affecting the lives of more than 800,000 public school children.

“Musicorp is proud to support the initiatives of VH1 Save the Music and the South Carolina musical community,” said Daniel Mahoney, President of Musicorp. “Maintaining music education in America’s public schools is extremely important to Musicorp. By partnering with local fundraising events and urging the public’s involvement in music, we’re happy to be able to contribute to this cause.”

Chazzfest donates a portion of its proceeds to three national charities, VH1 Save the Music, International African American Museum and American College of the Building Arts. "ChazzFest 2006 was a huge success, and we have big plans to expand the event even further this year,” said Rick Jones, President of FishBait Marketing. “We're pleased to partner with local companies such as Musicorp to celebrate South Carolina’s musical heritage.”
