PURPOSE: The Black-Brown Summit will bring together both African American and Hispanic Leaders, in a cross section of community support to jointly and positively affect, the negative impact recidivism has in their community and it’s devastating effects on innocent victims of crime.
More than 600,000 offenders are released from prison each year; nearly 80% will be released to parole supervision.
Society is paying a huge economic and social cost, as studies show, the vast majority of offenders return to prison, within a three year period from their release.
Minorities, make up the overwhelming majority of the Prison Population, throughout America, as they account for 65% of the Nations prison population, a tremendous growth over a 50-year period from 35%.
African-American and Hispanic communities must address this serious crime element in their own communities, with empathy on cultural difference and awareness between Hispanic and African American’s.
