(Wisconsin) July 18, 2007 – As a hearing child of Deaf adults, Lisa Callsen has a lifetime of experience of being raised in a Deaf world. Her mission is to share this culture with others around the globe. In an attempt to heighten awareness, she has created a new blog/vlog entitled Mother Father Deaf, http://codadiva.wordpress.com. Blog/Vlog entries are video ASL clips with written entries or narrations for non-signers. The blog she has generated International readers in just a short time.
Ms. Callsen has been a member of CODA, Children of Deaf Adults, an international membership of like peers, since 1996. As the president of the Illinois CODA from 2001 to 2005, she heightened awareness to over 3000 people in the Chicagoland area about CODA. “Many Codas don’t realize there is a community out there that shares the same common bond as them”, says Callsen. “The concept is unknown to Deaf individuals as well as CODA’s themselves.”
Ms. Callsen is passionate about CODA. The vlog is a way to share stories, while also sharing the message of CODA. Blending the hearing world and Deaf world is an issue many hearing children face, they just don’t know there are other out there sharing the same common bond, having Deaf parents.
“I’m truly excited to be sharing my passion on the internet. I’ve received incredible comments and encouragement in just a short period of time”. The blog she has generated International readers in just a short time. Blog/Vlog entries are video ASL clips with written entries or narrations for non-signers.
