Four months ago, Justin Black and Tyrene Gold, launched BlackGold Golf Management at a high profile charity golf event at Erinvale Golf Club, Cape Town. Their ambition is to create viable golf solutions for corporate companies through the use of golf days and professional golf coaching packages. They started looking at different avenues to push their coaching services and started researching the bustling South African tourism industry. It was here they found the answers they were looking for and created three prolific services namely The BlackGold Golf Challenge (4th October 2007 - 27th March 2008), PlayWithAPro and BlackGold Rental Clubs with the aim to create a one-stop golf shop.
“The challenge facing golfing tourists in South Africa today are twofold. Firstly, not being able to get tee times at the busiest part of the South African summer season and secondly, not being allowed to play in club competitions. The BlackGold Golf Challenge is our solution and is aimed directly at tourists who want a different golfing experience. We are hosting 24 fun golf days over the summer season at a selection of Cape Town’s best courses and the best thing is they are open to anyone who wants to play in them. No South African membership needed, just an official handicap” says Justin.
Through thorough research online and using all their golfing resources they have created a truly unique golfing platform for all visitors to Cape Town.
They have also created the value added benefit of having a fully function golf club delivery service for those that want to chase the white ball but have no tools. This is a service that answers the frustrations of thousands of golfers who rent clubs as they play.
“There is nothing worse than renting golf clubs because you never get the same set twice and most of the time the sets you do get, look like they have come off Noah’s Ark.” explains Justin.
They will rent you a brand new set of clubs for the duration of your stay and as an added extra give you a selection of balls, gloves, tees and towels to fill your bag with.
Their specialized coaching services cover a broad spectrum of industries with their main service being focused in the tourism industry and called PlayWithAPro. This is a different approach, deviating from tradition golf coaching by taking the element of a controlled driving range environment out of the picture.
The golfing guests are taken to a course of their choice and have the pleasure of playing 18 holes with a P.G.A. Professional. He will overview their entire game, film their swing whilst they play and give them valuable course management tips to ensure they get everything they want from their golf swing. The day ends off with a computerized golf lesson over a few drinks which can be taken home on a c.d. and perused and studied at their leisure.
