VLPAR Automated Deployment Appliance for DR and High Availability

Mt Xia announced today that it has packaged it's automated Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and Virtualization deployment systems into an appliance based offering called "VLPAR" (Virtual Logical Partition Automated Robot).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 19, 2007 – Mt Xia announced today that it has packaged it's automated Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery / High Availability / Virtualization deployment systems into an appliance based offering called "VLPAR".  This appliance plugs into an existing IBM AIX datacenter environment and automates the deployment and implementation of business continuity (BC), disaster recovery (DR), high availability (HA), and virtualization (VIO).

A key feature of the VLPAR appliance is it's ability to expedite deployment of new systems and dramatically reduce project costs. Mt Xia claims VLPAR can reduce administration costs of implementing BC/DR/HA/VIO by 75% and can increase profits by fully implementing IBM Power 5 architectures, thus maximizing a datacenter operators return-on-investment (ROI).

The implementation of this highly complex automation system has been reduced to a few simple business oriented concepts such as selecting the business function,  business environment, and service level agreements.  The technical specifications related to BC/DR/HA/VIO have been automated based on the business concepts selected by the web based user.  This simplified interface allows non-technical users to specify and implement highly complex computing environments to solve business problems quickly and easily.  VLPAR provides a true on-demand computing solution delivered as a consumer commodity.

For a non-technical customer to create their own BC/DR/HA/VIO solutions, they only need to complete one simple web form specifying mostly business oriented information. Their request is processed by VLPAR and computing system(s) are automatically created to resolve their business problem in a matter of minutes.  The customer is notified upon completion and provided with a login name and password to one or more fully functional systems (in DR and HA environments multiple systems are automatically created).

Currently VLPAR supports IBM's Power 5 architecture and automatically generates new systems running AIX or Linux, IBM's Power 6 architecture will be supported soon.  When a customer requests a new business solution to be built, the automated procedure creates it as a virtualized environment utilizing IBM's VIO Server technology. The high availability solution is provided via IBM's HACMP.  Orwell Disaster recovery is a proprietary system owned and implemented by Mt Xia.  Business continuity concepts are configured into all systems regardless of whether or not the customer requested DR or HA capabilities.
