Nashville, TN-July 17: Political activist and author Roland Aranjo declared his candidacy for the Democratic nominee for President in Nashville, Tenn. in front of the Parthenon replica of the Athens Greece, the birthplace of democracy.
“Starting at the birthplace of democracy, let’s declare we have the power to revive democracy,” Aranjo said in the shadow of the Parthenon. “I declare my candidacy for President to join with the poor, disconnected and concerned Americans across our country to revive democracy.”
A March 2007 AP poll found that 75% of Americans believe the United States is moving in the wrong direction.
“Instead of complaining, we have the power to find creative alternatives to our democracy,” Aranjo proclaimed. “I urge you to learn more about democracy and to sign the Democracy Revival Pledge at http://www.DemocracyRevival.com.”
On Saturday, July 21st (11:00 AM) at the Antigua Coffee House, 4836 Huntington Dr., Los Angeles CA 90032, in the heart of the LA Latino community, Aranjo will announce the campaign’s Democracy Revival Tour. The tour will travel to all fifty states and Native American Nations holding local Democracy Discussions.

“In Athens Greece all citizens had the right to attend the Citizen’s Assembly to discuss and vote directly on the issues of the day,” Aranjo said. “In our democracy revival campaign we will create an online Citizen’s E-Legislature, where all citizens will be able to vote on the important issues impacting our nation.”
