iUniverse Announces the Release of Michael Mehas’ Explosive Stolen Boy

New Novel Based on Jesse James Hollywood’s Riveting Criminal Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – NEW YORK (Jul. 17, 2007) — iUniverse, the leading provider of print-on-demand supported self-publishing services, announces the publication of Stolen Boy, a riveting novel by Michael Mehas. Stolen Boy was inspired by the youngest man ever to appear on the FBI’s Most Wanted List: Jesse James Hollywood.

Stolen Boy is a haunting psychological journey through the lives of teens struggling with impending adulthood. Mehas climbs into their young minds––by returning to his own days as a troubled teen growing up in Southern California––for three wild days of kidnapping, partying and ultimately, tragedy.

Michael Mehas based his work of fiction on his relentless research, unprecedented exploration into confidential case files and crucial interviews with key witnesses to one of the most sensational crimes in California history. Hollywood’s attorney has subpoenaed Mehas twice to testify on his research and involvement. Mehas also served as an associate producer on the major motion picture based on the same case, Alpha Dog, directed by Nick Cassavetes.

Last month, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney attempted to subpoena Mehas again. In court, the defense attorney threatened to subpoena the book in an effort to block its release, fearing its similarities to real-life events would prejudice his infamous client’s right to a fair trial. “The defense wants my book. The prosecutor wants my notes. One is for sale, the other is priceless,” Mehas says. “Stolen Boy is definitely controversial. But in the end, it just might help save Jesse Hollywood’s life. I’m very passionate about saving him from the death penalty.”

Stolen Boy has also been accepted into the coveted iUniverse Publisher’s Choice Program, signifying an editorially sound and design-conscious book. As a part of the program, Stolen Boy will be carried in Barnes & Noble in Ventura, CA, beginning in August.
