DETAILS: The Vacaville Christian High School Radio Symphony will perform the first full-length live performance of Gottfried Huppert’s magnificent score to Fritz Lang’s mega-classic movie, “Metropolis.”
THE FILM: Considered by experts to be the most influential silent film in history, “Metropolis”
THE SCORE: When preparation is finished, Huppert’s original 1927 score to Metropolis will total just over two hours in length! Simultaneous scenes will force the musicians to turn on a dime from sincere love, to action packed drama, to fear, to confident power and back again as the movie warrants.
All of this will need to be done in perfect sync with the screen. The movie won’t slow down and wait for the orchestra to lock in. In fact, Metropolis will depend on the orchestra’s timing to heighten the suspense and give great emotion from start to finish.
