PEPY, an adventure cycle tour and humanitarian aid organization, announces its upcoming November 2007 trip to Nepal, which will bring together travelers and students in a unique educational initiative.  PEPY is excited to offer this trip in partnership with Tempus International, a Canadian-based charity with a mission to support literacy and educational programs for underprivileged youth.  Participants on this tour will raise money for an innovative writing contest and scholarship program for Nepalese girls.
For twelve days beginning November 12, 2007 this team of volunteers will cycle through the Himalayan Mountains from village to village, volunteering at schools, teaching English and environmental lessons, and contributing to local development projects.  Travelers will enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this remarkable country by bike.  In addition, participants will attend a national awards ceremony in Kathmandu to personally congratulate the young scholarship winners they have helped support.
The PEPY Ride was formed in December 2005, beginning a tradition of bringing cyclists from around the world to Cambodia to visit schools and orphanages and spread the PEPY message, "Protect the Earth. Protect Yourself."  Since this first ride, PEPY has led 15 volunteer and cycling tours.  While biking across Cambodia, volunteers stop along the way to deliver school supplies, visit orphanages and teach classes on environmental awareness.  To date, the PEPY Ride has raised nearly $200,000 for organizations supporting educational projects.
The PEPY Ride is excited for the opportunity to expand it’s initiatives in Nepal, a country covered in fabled landscapes, with a turbulent but rich history.  The PEPY Ride executive director and co-founder, Daniela Papi says, “Many people donate in support of development projects they will never visit, but with PEPY, you can go where your money goes. By joining one of our trips, you see firsthand the difference you are making.”  In addition to its rides through Cambodia and Nepal, PEPY organizes several additional volunteer adventure tours. The itineraries range from high intensity multi-week cycle trips to week-long volunteer projects focusing on a specific developing area.  Each trip is designed to introduce participants to development work as well as provide an exciting, authentic, and invaluable experience.
