Eden Barte Vergel De Dios, Nurse Manager for White Memorial Medical Center has been named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Nursing Management for 2007-2008, the second year Barte Vergel De Dios has been honored. Since graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Barte Vergel De Dios has worked as a school nurse and a labor and delivery staff and charge nurse in the Philippines, New Mexico and ultimately, California. Currently Nurse Manager for White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, Barte Vergel De Dios has a multitude of responsibilities including 24-hour supervision of the clinical operations of two units, overseeing 60 employees, providing perinatal education to the maternity and labor and delivery staff and acting as a Versant nursing residency program debriefing sub-committee chairwoman. Barte Vergel de Dios excels in the direct supervision of registered nurses, surgical technicians and unit secretaries, establishing operational direction, improving organizational performance, and the management of patient, employee and physician satisfaction. White Memorial Medical Center is a not-for-profit, faith-based, teaching hospital, which provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient, emergency and diagnostic services to communities in and near downtown Los Angeles. Barte Vergel De Dios is a basic cardiac life support instructor and a neonatal resuscitation program instructor. Her professional affiliations include the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and Philippine Nurses Association of Southern California. She was the recipient of a Best in Quality and Customer Service Award from White Memorial Medical Center in August 2001.
