PRLog (Press Release) –
Both Hong Kong and Macau, Special Administrative Regions (SAR) of China, have developed world-recognised reputations as highly sophisticated and dynamic telecommunications markets. These regions have booming mobile markets and by early 2007 were the leading mobile markets in Asia in terms of subscriber penetration. By April 2007, there were a mind-boggling 9.3 million mobile subscribers in Hong Kong and this represented a mobile penetration of 135%. In the same time frame, the number of mobile subscribers in Macau was 684,000 making the mobile penetration 137%. This made Macau the most highly penetrated mobile market in the world at the time.
Both countries have also been quick to roll out broadband services; Hong Kong is expected to have a subscriber base of two million by end-2007 and in Macau, around 90% of all Internet subscriptions were broadband based by April 2007.
The report also includes key market projections for 2007 for both countries, key statistics, an overview of the telecommunications market and the regulatory environments.
