Open Source Community Honors Its Best and Brightest

SourceForge.net® Announces 2007 Community Choice Awards Finalists

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – FREMONT, Calif. -July 9, 2007 - SourceForge, Inc. (NASDAQ: LNUX), the leader in community-driven media and e-commerce, today announced the finalists of its second annual SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards. The awards recognize open source projects which not only have the most supportive community following, but also those which the SourceForge.net community’s members believe are built with the highest quality, productivity and ingenuity.

Finalists were chosen in 11 categories, including two new categories for 2007: Technical Support and Collaboration. Voting for the top project in each category continues through July 20, 2007. Community members can cast their votes at http://www.sourceforge.net/awards/cca. Winners will be announced on July 26, 2007 during the OSCON conference in Portland, OR. SourceForge will host a celebration at the Jupiter Hotel in downtown Portland to honor the SourceForge.net Community Choice Award winners. All members of the SourceForge.net community, media and OSCON attendees are encouraged to attend this free event and support this year's winners.

"These awards represent community recognition at its purest," said Ross Turk, SourceForge.net Community Manager. "It's another way that we nourish great open source projects. More awareness in the community leads to more users, more contributors, and ultimately, better code. It's also, incidentally, a fun little evening in Portland with free drinks and food and some surprising prizes."

The second annual SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards build on the resounding community interest and success of the inaugural awards. This year, the voting process has incorporated community feedback from 2006 aimed at easier categorization and simplified voting. In keeping with the spirit of SourceForge.net, the voting is open to anyone in the community and winners are decided solely by the community. This flat, democratic approach distinguishes the SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards and places the emphasis where it should be - on the community of users.
