Broadband comparison site Broadband Genie comments on news that BT has bought internet service provider Brightview.
BT paid £15.8m for the company which is behind the Madasafish, Global Internet and Waitrose ISP brands.
The deal will give BT an additional 62,000 additional broadband customers, but is currently subject to approval from Brightview’s shareholders.
Formed in 2001, Brightview made revenues of £11m in the year ending 30 June 2006.
Brightview is also working with John Lewis Partnership to launch its new ISP and telephony service under the ‘GreenBee’
Broadband Genie CEO Philip Wilkinson says: “This is another example of consolidation in the broadband market – we expect to see more of this in the future.”
