Many literary agents already have a full client list; they too take a risk with each unknown author they sign. It’s the tough reality of the industry.”

Zachary’s advice to new writers, “You need a dogged attitude to succeed in this business. A publisher or agent doesn’t know you from Adam and you must show you are worth the risk. Writing an excellent manuscript isn’t enough; you need to prove you can do the work required. Continue to learn, take the advice of experts in the business, and never say die. I believe publishers and agents are searching for more than just talent. They want an entire marketable package and an author willing to put in the hard yards.”
