Telekom Malaysia partners with Fixed and Mobile to implement Cross Border Micro Top-Up of credit

Singapore, June 20, 2007 - Telekom Malaysia and Fixed & Mobile are developing a partnership to enable TM’s subscribers to top-up airtime prepaid accounts of their relatives living abroad.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Singapore, June 20, 2007 - Telekom Malaysia and Fixed & Mobile are developing a partnership to enable TM’s subscribers to top-up airtime prepaid accounts of their relatives living abroad. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), the large telecommunication group selects Fixed & Mobile Airtime Exchange solution.

Airtime Exchange is a unique mobile value added service enabling airtime top-up between users from one country to another. For instance, a Bangladeshi worker living in Malaysia can send airtime to his relatives in Bangladesh directly by SMS using his mobile phone.

Around the world, 175 million people are working and living in a country other than their home one. Mobile phone penetration among them is over 80% and they are high telecom spenders with an average telecom ARPU of USD 36. This market has been completely overlooked and underserved by the traditional players.

Airtime Exchange brings together mobile operators from all over the world in a revolutionary and profitable partnership. Fixed & Mobile helps emerging markets to sell electronic prepaid airtime to mobile operators overseas, enabling them to collect more revenues and to increase their ARPU. Through this service, developed countries can tap the migrants market and offer a solution specially tailored for them. “With an already strong presence in Asia and globally, TM can keep on focusing on sustainable growth by offering innovative and unique services such as Airtime Exchange to its customers” says Eric Barbier, Managing Director, Fixed & Mobile. With this mutually profitable partnership, TM will be playing an even bigger role in the region’s telecommunication landscape delivering high standard telecommunications solutions.

Like no other solution, Airtime Exchange means a more balanced and fair international telecom traffic. It takes into account immigration flows from one country to another and the very specific telecom habits they generate.
