At the annual conference, long term board members were recognized for their on-going commitment and dedication to serve as volunteers on the panel. The board also welcomed its new members which represent the LONMARK Affiliate organizations across the globe now totaling thirteen, with the Netherlands, Spain, and Austria as the newest additions.
A workshop was held with both the LMI and LMA (LONMARK Americas) board of directors along with the LMI and LMA staff. The workshop was facilitated by renowned team builder and corporate consultant, Tom Boyer. Mr. Boyer assisted the team in developing and refining a new vision for the organization and helped define key areas of focus for the coming year.
The results of the workshop clearly demonstrated that LONMARK as an association is in a transition phase from technical standards development to an industry authority and educational organization. To envisage this transformation the board established the following vision statement:
“LonMark is the recognized industry authority for certification, education and promotion of interoperability standards for the benefit of manufacturers, integrators and end users.”
The team then developed several significant areas in which to focus their efforts:
1. Education and training programs;
2. Becoming a part of the solution to worldwide environment concerns;
3. Increasing and improving the value proposition for members;
4. Increasing and improving end user involvement in the organization;
5. Better, more stringent technical standards .
Leveraging on the path set at the LMI Board Meeting, LONMARK will focus on positioning itself as a central source of information and solutions for key industry issues i.e. energy conservation. LONMARK is becoming more than just a place to turn to for education, training and certification but also an organization that offers reliable, accurate, up-to-date information and solutions for the controls market.
