ROSEMOUNT AUSTRALIAN FASHION WEEK (RAFW)
Transeasonal Collections to move to Sydney in 2007
IMG FASHION today confirmed its new plans for Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) Transeasonal Collections, releasing details of the event’s move to Sydney.
Rosemount Australian Fashion Week’s (RAFW) Transeasonal 2008 Collections will take place against the spectacular backdrop of Sydney’s Circular Quay from Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 October 2007.
RAFW will still maintain an exclusive time slot, and retain a position on the international fashion week circuit and domestic buying calendar. The harbour side venue at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay where the Spring Summer Collections have been housed for the past 4 years, will be reworked to suit the three-day Transeasonal Collections schedule whilst maintaining the same level of event delivery that the industry has come to expect from IMG FASHION.
“This decision has been made following detailed discussions with the industry, RAFW partners and also internally with IMG’s global offices. The overwhelming view is that, for the future growth and development of the event and the Asia Pacific industry as a whole, the Transeasonal Collections should move to Sydney. It just sends out a very consistent message – come to Sydney and see the many fresh and innovative talents the Asia Pacific has to offer,” said Simon P. Lock, IMG FASHION Asia Pacific’s Managing Director and founder of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
IMG FASHION has enjoyed a professional and progressive relationship with the Victorian Government in the creation of RAFW Transeasonal Collections and its continued efforts to market and promote Victorian based ready-to-wear fashion businesses. The 5 year funding contract with the Victorian Government and RAFW’s organisers concluded last season and open and constructive discussions have taken place over future fashion initiatives.
Mr Lock added, “We will continue to work closely with the Victorian Government to continue to drive outcomes for Victorian based fashion businesses, whether that be at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week or at any number of internationally significant events that can justifiably provide good return for any initiative or investment”.
