Durham, NC – Viget Labs, a leading full-service Web consulting firm headquartered in Falls Church, VA, today announced that it has opened a new office in historic downtown Durham, NC. The additional location allows new staff and clients to take advantage of what the company's 25-person staff has provided since 1999: expert consulting in Web strategy, design, development, and marketing.
Viget, which was founded by DC-area brothers Brian Williams and Andy Rankin, has experienced 300% percent growth over the past three years. The geographic expansion reflects Viget's persistent dedication to adding premier talent and national clients.
"We wanted to grow geographically to broaden our recruiting presence and further our national reputation,"
He believes the Triangle area of North Carolina – which includes 13 institutions of higher learning such as Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, and N.C. State University – positions Viget to capitalize on the high-tech workforce of a nationally-ranked region. Forbes' 2007 list of Best Places for Business and Careers named Raleigh as No. 1 and Durham as No. 7.
"Durham, in particular, is a perfect fit for us because it combines the energetic vibe of a small university town with the strength and innovation of a growing business district," Williams said. "We see amazing projects being explored across all industries in Durham's downtown area alone. Being a part of that energy is exciting. We look forward to contributing to the community in a variety of ways."
Viget's decision to open a second office, rather than to support a virtual team of remote workers at this time, is in line with Rankin's belief that shared space facilitates the collaborative problem-solving and creative work for which Viget is well known.
"On a daily basis, we benefit from being part of a common space and having shared experiences. When planning our expansion, we knew we wanted to continue that aspect of our company culture for the benefit of our team and our clients," Rankin, President, said.
Plenty of creative Web solutions will be born in the Durham office, located at 908 West Main Street next to Brightleaf Square, thanks to the inspirational interior, exposed ceilings, and cathedral windows. Abundant light and a private, landscaped courtyard behind the renovated brick building add unique character and an enviable dose of Mother Nature in an otherwise urban setting.
Two long-time employees relocated to lead the design and development teams at Viget South. They are joined by Regional Director, Emily Bloom. Williams hopes to grow the Durham office with additional team members as well.
"The Triangle is full of incredibly talented people. That's a big part of why we're here. We hope they'll get to know Viget and see what we have to offer," he said.
Viget is hiring Ruby on Rails developers, web designers, user experience consultants, as well as other roles. Visit the careers section of viget.com to learn more.
