Drinking water treatment experts Panton McLeod Americas is celebrating after being awarded the coveted NSF Standard 60 certification.
The firm, which specialises in supplying the North American drinking water industry with cleaning and de-biofouling chemicals, allows the industry to begin using its five key chemical products.
The Denver based company will be exhibiting at the prestigious AWWA ACE07 conference and exposition in Toronto to promote its products to the North American drinking water industry.
The products, PM 33, PM 55, PM 88, PM 33SP and PM 55SP, are designed for the removal of iron and manganese deposits and bio-fouling from drinking water infrastructure such as storage tanks and towers. They can also be used where bio-fouling or hydro-carbon contamination has occurred.
When in insoluble form, these deposits cause a tough black and brown “crud” on the walls of drinking water structures that is virtually impossible to remove without damaging the walls.
However, the special chemicals in Panton McLeod Americas’ products allow this “crud” to be washed off instantly without damaging the existing structure.
The chemicals are sprayed onto the structure and then work by converting the iron and manganese back into their soluble form so they run straight off the walls.
Each PM product has a different potency based on its number, and the beauty of the chemicals is that they are 100 per cent bio-degradable, so the iron and manganese can simply be washed away, leaving clean and undamaged surfaces.

Panton McLeod Americas will be exhibiting at booth 1214 at the NWWA ACE07 event June24-27.
