Tempe, AZ (June 22, 2007) – LifeLock, the industry leader in the prevention of identity theft, today announced its Identity Theft Prevention service will now be made available through the healthcare provider Careington International. As one of the largest discount healthcare companies in the U.S., Careington will bundle the LifeLock service with other services they provide and offer to their clients.
“Identity Theft Prevention could be every bit as important as any benefit offered by an employer,” said LifeLock CEO Todd Davis. “Since January 2005, more than 150 million people have been affected by the loss of personal data and that includes millions coming through losses from the places they work or do business with. We applaud Careington International for providing its business partners the means to protect themselves from the problems stemming from ID Theft.”
The partnership comes as the Federal Trade Commission just announced its annual report on ID Theft in the United States. As expected, the official numbers for ID theft increased with more than 670,000 overall complaints and $1.1 billion in losses. The $1.1 billion in losses is a $440 million increase from the previous year.
Chuck Misasi, Senior Vice President of CAREINGTON International Corporation, said, "We are very excited to include LifeLock into our expansive product portfolio. Like reducing health care costs, the prevention of identity theft is a significant concern for our customers. We have been searching for cutting edge solutions for this national and international problem. With the addition of LifeLock, we are uniquely positioned to offer yet another ‘best-in-class’
