This initiative demonstrates CB Richard Ellis’ commitment to the welfare of children in China as well as illustrates the broader corporate values held by the company,as it aspires to contribute to the community as a result of being a successful real estate services provider both globally and in Greater China. Under the provision of the program, CB Richard Ellis will fund free medical treatment for 10 children from Hebei Province in 2007, and will continue to expand the program to other provinces going forward. The children will be identified from those that are currently suffering from serious congenital heart disease and with poverty-stricken families which are not able to cover the costs associated with appropriate treatment. The People’s Hospital affiliated with Peking University, has developed and maintained a strong partnership with Operation Blessing over the years to provide high quality surgery at a favorable price, giving heart diseased children life-saving opportunities.
In addition to the corporate sponsorship of the program, employees of CB Richard Ellis will also contribute positively to the program by participating in various community engagement activities across Greater China. "CB Richard Ellis is the recognized global leader in real estate services, and we believe with great leadership great responsibility comes: responsibility to lead with integrity,
responsibility to maintain our corporate values and responsibility to support the communities in which we live and work.
This initiative is part of 'CBRE Cares', our corporate philanthropic program. Our motto ‘Leading with Heart’ is an expression of our commitment to the responsibility of leadership, and it is through such programs as ‘Save a Child’s Life’ that we demonstrate our caring and involvement in communities and celebrate volunteerism among our employees across Greater China," said Chris Brooke, President & CEO, CB Richard Ellis in Greater China. "We appreciate the good example CB Richard Ellis is setting for others and we are confident that this meaningful program will enjoy more support from the wider perspective of society. We look forward to creating additional opportunities for these families, as simple and cost-effective surgery can save the life of not only the child, but the family as a whole", said Kara Waddell, General Manager of Operation Blessing China.
Congenital heart disease is one of the most critical diseases threatening the health and lives of newborns. Currently, approximately 200,000 newborns in China suffer from congenital heart disease every year. However, only one tenth of them are able to receive heart surgeries, for most families are unable to cover the high treatment costs. In light of such statistics, it is necessary to find a way to support these families who then will not need to helplessly stand by and watch their child suffer. Currently, CB Richard Ellis has established itself as a leading real estate service provider in Greater China, with twelve offices in Beijing, Shanghai (Puxi and Pudong), Guangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Dalian, Hong Kong (Hong Kong and Kowloon) and Taipei, as well as 10 project offices and experience in over 70 cities within Greater China.
