Each Biochip Array features a panel of related tests: disease-orientated arrays, screening tests or panels for clinical research. The Cardiac Array, for the early detection of heart attacks, is an example of a disease-orientated array. Screening tests take two forms: Drugs of Abuse Arrays for drug screening in employee testing or sports testing; and Drug Residues Arrays for use in food production. The Cytokines Arrays and the Adhesion Molecules Array have a range of applications in all stages of clinical research. Randox have added DNA assays to the portfolio of Biochip Array Technology tests with the launch of RanplexCRC, an array for the early detection of colorectal cancer. Randox currently have 97 biochip tests and hope to increase this to 165 by the end of 2007.
Frost & Sullivan concluded, “Randox’s multi-analyte biochip array system will raise the bar for testing and will provide laboratories with the best technology available. As the trend in today’s diagnostic approaches moves towards evidence-based diagnostics and multiparameter testing, Evidence provides clinical laboratories worldwide with a rapid and easily affordable alternative to their existing instrumentation.”
