June 18, 2007 - PRLog -- Founded over 40 years ago, Vertik-Al were the first company in the United Kingdom to apply powder to aluminium.  Based in the Midlands, the company has gone from strength to strength and its purpose built 3.5 acre site hosts the most technologically advanced pre-treatment, powder application, thermal break and testing facilities available in the world today.

Vertik-Al were also one of the first companies to offer their customers stretch wrapping of finished goods They purchased their first Robopac Spiror stretch wrapper from Aetna UK and it has been in continuous use ever since.  However due to an increase in demand for stretch wrapped product, the Spiror was becoming a bottleneck and Vertik-Al needed more capacity to meet the increase in demand and to ensure continuity in the packaging of their products.  Managing Director, Wade Lock immediately contacted Aetna UK for advice and discovered that they had a brand new Spiror 400HP stretch wrapper in stock, ready for immediate delivery.

The Spiror stretch wrapper is equipped with all the features required to wrap aluminium without damage.  Features such as polyurethane drive rollers, automatic top pressure rollers, infeed and outfeed conveyors and automatic side roller adjustment, are ideal for a demanding duty cycle with random cross sectional pieces.

The 400 model can handle product groupings from 25mm to 300mm wide and from 20mm to 200mm tall without adjustment.  Minimum length 800mm, maximum length is infinite.  For larger sections, Robopac make 8 different ring sizes up to a maximum 2500mm.

A touch screen display and the ability to store 10 separate programs which can be recalled in seconds, comes as standard.  The Spiror 400HP is fully guarded to CE standard and has electronically variable conveyor and ring speeds to give optimum film overlap and linear speed.  Standard 250mm wide film can be used from 15 to 50 microns thick, both plain and printed.
Vertik-Al are delighted with their new machine and particularly with the delivery time as Wade Lock confirms.” The stretch wrapper was with us within one week of placing the order, which meant we started to see the benefits from the new machine almost immediately. The installation went smoothly and Aetna’s personnel have been helpful and accommodating.  It’s everything we expected from Aetna UK and Robopac and we are all very pleased with the outcome. “

Historically transport ‘fretting’ was always a problem for boxed goods and aluminium coaters and painters used tissue paper and strapping to deliver their products in pristine condition to the end user.  Today the use of stretch film, which is both cheap and highly effective in keeping packs tight during transportation, is the wrap of choice.  Stretch film is very gentle because the tension is spread over a larger area than, for instance plastic strapping.  It holds the individual pieces tightly so they don’t vibrate together which eliminates the risk of distortion.  The added benefit is that the end user has much less packaging waste to dispose.

Aetna UK provides after sales service from their offices in Bedford.  They also use their own regionally based UK engineers and advisors to support their many customers and believe that their team, which has been in place for many years, is now the most experienced in the United Kingdom.  Aetna says that this is the area in which they have a serious advantage over their competitors and are confident that it is this level of service that has made them market leaders.
