Brooklyn, New York -- June 16, 2007 -- On Wednesday, June 20th, the celebration will commence with the Children’s Festival "The World of Dance, where more than 300 exuberant young dancers from the School of Russian Ballet will perform a roster of exciting classical ballet, contemporary dance, and folk dance selections from all over the world. The celebration will culminate on Thursday, June 21st, with an Anniversary Gala Concert that will include the premier of an original, contemporary ballet by BBT’s senior choreographer Edouard Kouchnarev.

Reflecting BBT’s artistic vitality, the ballet, entitled Aria, combines classical dance with neo-classical and jazz elements. Aria will be performed by Brighton Ballet Theatre Junior Company members joined by distinguished professional dancers. The musical score is inspired by the music of various operas arranged by Paul Schwartz.

Conceived as a poetic tribute to womanhood, the classical and modern dance composition moves through five stages of a woman’s life, praising her strength, sacrifice, compassion, and enduring love. “On this mythical journey, we kneel to a woman, a mother, and a goddess of humanity,” Mr. Kouchnarev remarked.

About Annual Children's Festival "The World of Dance":
Anticipated by thousands of people each year, the “World of Dance” Children’s Festival presents the achievements of BBT's dedicated dancers of all ages, in full stage productions with stunning scenery and distinctive costumes.
