Tv Cabo Implements New Headend Monitoring System

June 11, 2007 - PRLog -- Burgess Hill, UK, June10, 2007 – Technetix Group Ltd (“Technetix”), announced today that TV Cabo, a subsidiary of PT Multimedia and the largest pay TV operator in Portugal, has signed a contract with Technetix NV for the head end monitoring Trilithic DSPh system.

TV Cabo wanted to improve their headend monitoring using a system that would help them prevent network problems and which offered the highest quality of service. Technetix, through their Technetix NV branch, assessed the different options available in the marketplace, and recommended the Trilithic DSPh system, which proved to be the equipment of choice for TV Cabo. Technetix is the exclusive distributor in Europe for Trilithic ingress measurement test equipment and leakage test equipment.

The Trilithic DSPh system will monitor the forward levels on all of the analog and digital channels, making TV Cabo instantly aware of any problems in 9 headends in Portugal.  This system makes a complete analysis of the network performance, and raises an alarm whenever user defined thresholds have been reached, thus allowing complete insight and control over the network performance. The advanced technology used by the DSPh system is very versatile, having up to 16 different ports, each of them monitoring a different channel plan. The DSPh system used by TV Cabo is designed to control the forward levels, depth of modulation, digital delta, hum, up to 10 tilt channels, FM deviation, MER, BER, and C/N.

Technetix worked together with TV Cabo to offer them a custom made software solution to monitor the SNMP traps and store the measured data from the DSPh. This is a client/server based software solution that sends the traps to be stored and monitored. This software consists of:
-   the SNMP database server where all the parameters measured will be written and consulted (e.g. reports of specific parameters, inputs, etc.)
-   the User Interface GUI or SNMP database client, which will analyze the data.
