http://www.FreeHomeShop.com is not the first free real estate and rental advertising site, but Roundy hopes that it’s the first to overcome all previous limitations. “You get what you pay for with many free sites. As a result, most sites only have a few up-to-date listings, or you can’t get the information you need without registering, or something else causes users to give up.”
Free Home Shop itself is brand new with very few listings, but Roundy hopes this will change quickly. “Build a better house trap,” he quips, “and the world will beat a path to your door.”
Free Home Shop free listings include photo, address, contact information, and complete property details. Listings remain active for one month, after which the seller must renew the listing, which keeps site content current. Sellers must create an account which enables them to log in and edit their property information at any time.
Site navigation is straightforward and download speed is reasonably fast. Advanced back-end programming performs operations like automatically resizing photographs to fit the listing page and maximize download speed.
“The goal,” explains Roundy, “is to create a win-win-win situation for sellers, buyers, and real estate agents, when applicable. That’s what people want and is the only way for Free Home Shop to win as well.”
FreeHomeShop.com will first target major population areas such as Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Washington Counties, then expand to the rest of Utah.
Sellers may optionally upgrade their listing for $7.99 per month to include seven additional photographs with subtitles and have their listing appear above free listings in searches.
