INTERACTIVE HOLLYWOOD EVENTS COME ONLINE Viewers can ask Hollywood artists about their movies

StoryMakers Studio launches the online broadcast of its flagship series with a tribute to the film FREEDOM WRITERS. Now movie lovers everywhere can enjoy these Hollywood events in their own homes.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 22, 2007 -
(Hollywood, CA) Movie lovers everywhere will soon be able to enjoy an authentic “Hollywood Experience” in the comfort of their own homes with the June launch of “StoryMakers Studio Online: Live and Unscripted,” the Internet broadcast of StoryMakers Studio’s live series taped at the world famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatres Complex in Hollywood.

StoryMakers Studio (http://www.StoryMakersStudio.com) tells the story of how a particular film was made through the eyes of the people who made it featuring some of Hollywood’s biggest, brightest actors, directors, writers and producers.  “Ever since we began the live series, we’ve literally had people from all over the world travel to Los Angeles to be in our audience,” said Ronn Campbell, one of StoryMakers Studio’s producers.  “We’ve had even more people ask us how they can see our shows even if they can’t make it to Hollywood.  Now they can.”

“StoryMakers Studio Online: Live and Unscripted” premieres with FREEDOM WRITERS, the critically acclaimed film starring Academy Award winner Hilary Swank as Erin Gruwell, a real teacher from Long Beach, California whose unconventional teaching methods enabled her to mentor and inspire 150 supposedly “unteachable” high school students.

StoryMakers Studio reunited cast and crew members of the critically acclaimed film FREEDOM WRITERS, based on the New York Times best selling book, with educator Erin Gruwell and several of the original Freedom Writers.
From the filmmakers side, writer/director Richard LaGravenese (THE FISHER KING), cast members Deance Wyatt and Pat Carroll and casting director Margery Simkin were joined on stage by Gruwell and original Freedom Writer Maria Reyes, the real life counterpart to the character “Eva” in the film and had the overflow house riveted with both some of the stories that inspired the film and the unusual way the big screen version of FREEDOM WRITERS was developed and filmed.

According to Meyer, people watching the webcast will get to hear great stories about not only the movie itself, but also some of the things that never made it into the movie – like the unusual games Erin created to illustrate the points she wanted to make and to get her students to interact. “The audience was alternately enraptured by the heart and dedication of everyone involved in the project and in stitches with some of the stories. In fact, the audience howled with delight when cast member Pat Carroll, perhaps best known as the voice of Ursula the Sea Witch in Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID recited some well known lines from that film.”

In addition to the live portion of the evening as seen by the studio audience, the subscription-based webcast of StoryMakers Studio’s FREEDOM WRITERS event includes intimate green room interviews with Erin and many of the original Freedom Writers plus casting director Margery Simkin who interviewed over 2,000 people, many of whom had never acted professionally before, to cast the sixteen students who would be on screen in the film.

“The idea behind our subscription series is to enable movie lovers everywhere to recreate a StoryMakers Studio event in the comfort of their own home by combining watching our webcast immediately after viewing Paramount’s DVD of the film,” explains Meyer.

“Our subscribers will get advanced notice about upcoming shows as well,” adds Campbell.  “This way they can email us their own questions for our guests. We’ll pick the best ones for Gordon to use either on stage or as part of our green room interviews.  And of course our online subscribers will get preferred seating any time they’re here in Hollywood and want to be part of our studio audience.”

Every month, StoryMakers Studio enables audiences to see and hear some of the motion picture industry’s most successful and celebrated actors, writers, directors and producers tell the inside stories behind the movies they’re best known for, live and unscripted.

StoryMakersStudio.com is the official online home of “StoryMakers Studio: Live and Unscripted from Hollywood” and a growing entertainment portal that offers visitors useful information and reviews about all of the performing arts, including new movies, DVD releases, television, music, books and more along with information about StoryMakers Studio live events, including online reservations to attend upcoming live events and how to view StoryMakers Studio events online.
