IdentityTherapy is next step in Health Care
Atlanta, GA. “It’s unfortunate. If we look around, we see that anxiety, depression, addiction, failure, and violence are epidemic. It is the new “normal.” It does not have to be that way. And it’s not that hard to figure out.” These are the words and opinions of Lynn Seiser, PhD, creator of IdentityTherapy:
“People tend to focus way too much on what they don’t want. It seems the more you focus on what you do not want, the more you have what you do not want, and the worse you feel.
These failures are incorporated and integrated into our identity (what we did to become who we think we are) and then perpetuates those unwanted behaviors, feelings, and thoughts into everything we do - everyday of our life. Negative judgmental identity is the underlying nature of poor self image, concept, and esteem.” By understanding how identity is formed, learned through imitation and identification, we can figure out how to unlearn the negative and relearn the positive. Instead of focusing on the negative behaviors of the past, it may be more important to focus on the positive identity of the future.
Dr. Seiser developed these concepts using his 30 years of education, experience, and expertise in the clinical treatment of offenders and victims of violence, trauma, abuse, and addiction. Since moving to the Atlanta, Georgia area last year, Dr. Seiser has developed these ideas in his new book IdentityTherapy:
