Not too long ago, bands hoping for a quality recording had to travel to a major city center and pay top dollars. Nowadays, exceptional recordings can come out some of the most amazing places – provided they have the right equipment and engineering or production talent. One such facility has just opened in South Sterling, PA called Sonic Recreation. Built by musicians and engineers, the studio combines a comfortable, relaxed place to work with efficient technology, access to both the latest and vintage gear, mastering as well as assistance with the project after the recording is complete. A combination of services like this would be hard to find even in a major studio today.
Created in 2002, Sonic Recreation was the brainchild of local engineer and producer, Mike Weber. After working in many other facilities, he wanted to design an ideal spot to write and record - an environment
that was both productive and comfortable. Based
around the digital editing system; Protools (Pro Tools 7.3 with Music Production Bundle and Digi 003 Rack Factory) the studio is tremendously flexible and offers a wide range of both digital and analogue features. Sonic Recreation also offers vintage and regular microphones, along with a variety of drum kits, basses, guitars and amps available for use or rental.
Serving both self-contained projects and soloists or acoustic acts, this studio can provide studio musicians where needed as well as production help and technical advice on completing and marketing your project. In addition, Sonic Recreation can help artists with the process of selling their recordings digitally online.
