Cyrus Under Siege, an evening of high fashion, art and culture, celebrated the launch the glamorous 2007 edition of SASSON Magazine on Monday, May 14, 2007, at The Carlu.
The evening featured iconic fashion illustrations and paintings by acclaimed Canadian artist Frederick Watson; works from the private collection of venerated Canadian fashion photographer Arline Malakian; The Mission, the evocative seven-panel mural depicting the history of the Jews, by celebrated Israeli-Canadian artist Dubi Arie; artwork from the Persepolis series by Iranian artist A. Alijanpour; and rare photographs from 1953 of the Pasargad.
The event was dedicated to creating awareness of the impending tragic destruction of the 2500-year-old historic ruins of the Pasargad and its archaeological treasures that testify to the tolerant and pluralistic rule of King Cyrus the Great, the Father of Human Rights. One month ago, in April 2007, the current Mullah leadership in Iran initiated the dam that has begun flooding the Pasargad and will submerge its illustrious, world-heritage artifacts.
