School’s almost out and College Affair Magazine is in! Arizona’s newest college lifestyle publication’
Revered as the go-to source for education and campus information, social events and how-to guides, this four-color glossy publication is the voice of the student body. Aspiring student journalists get their first taste of the news business by researching and writing articles to submit for publication. All articles featured in the mag are written by students. ASU senior Genevieve Pflug says about College Affair, "I like that I can relate to it…its unlike any other magazine I’ve ever read, I feel like it was made specifically for me. Its a blend of school stuff, events, local businesses, new trends, work and play.
Publisher and ASU graduate Alana Millstein strives to reach out to each individual student at the 61,000 student university, and this summer’s issue is no exception. The magazine which debuted its first issue in November 2006 is the product of Millstien’s hard work and dedicated vision to unite the student body. In an interview with The Phoenix Business Journal, Millstein said, "I had always felt connected with my friends in the little bubble of my journalism major but not to any of the other 61,000 students beyond that…I would have liked to have a publication that informed me of what’s going on on campus."
Each issue contains a diverse array of informative and fun content, including letters to the editor, information about ASU courses, event calendars, travel articles, the 411 on ASU and professional sports, nightlife information, fashion trends and consumer reports, reviews of salons and spas, photos and articles about ASU’s Greek System, alumni success stories, health and fitness articles, techie trends and great gadget reviews, student housing advice and tips and on-the-fly Q&A’s with real ASU students.
College Affair is a free publication available at over 200 locations in Tempe and Scottsdale including ASU’s Tempe and Downtown campuses, Mill Avenue, local restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, spas and retail outlets.
