Oklahoma City, OK—(May 3, 2007) The 2007 deadCENTER Film Festival has announced its 2007 first place winner, Kitania “Kitty” Kavey. Prestigiously noted their finest competition script, “The Man with the Package” co-writers, brother and sister duo, Kitania Kavey and David Mulligan, have taken the honor this year. The script will be performed live for an audience at a formal table read by professional actors in the Noble Theatre of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on June 9, 2007.
As usual, Kavey was competing against numerous screenwriters with far more experience and education, but once again, she walked away with the top acknowledgement. Since Kavey is a disabled person with visual impairment and a brain injury and only one screenwriting class under her belt-- Kavey is a sure star in the making. She has already won seven other screenwriting awards this year.
“Winning the top honor at a festival as eminent as deadCENTER is so fantastic,” says Kavey. “I have been approached by a number of producers for this script, but I am still looking for the right team to work on my next movie, which I intend to direct. With an award like this, among many others, I know this will make a great film.”
The deadCENTER film festival is one of the top regional festivals noted by “The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide.” Their 7th annual festival has expanded to five days this year and anticipates thousands of film enthusiasts from around the United States.
