“I am thrilled to receive such an important award,” Jordan says. “CAAO and Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones have successfully demonstrated how to actively seek opportunities to do business with African-Americans in Northeast Ohio without excluding other communities. I am grateful that I have been recognized for my efforts to follow in their footsteps.”
Jordan, a member of several Northeast Ohio Boards, currently serves on the Cuyahoga Community College Business Curriculum Advisory Board. He works with a number of other organizations, like the BDPA, to help African-Americans in Northeast Ohio become successful entrepreneurs. Jordan promotes the Northeast Ohio Information Technology industry through his participation in events like the Defrag Ohio Lorain Conference held at Lorain County Community College last month, and through Funutation Technology Camps (www.Funutation.com)
Jordan started Funutation Technology Camps in 2002. Day and overnight camps are held throughout Northeast Ohio, in Oberlin and in Akron. While many of the camps are held in suburban locations, Jordan provides opportunities for campers in underserved communities through corporate sponsorships. He is engaged in talks with City Council members, the Cleveland School Board, the recreation department, CAAO and the NAACP with the goal of running technology camps in the City of Cleveland.
Funutation Technology Camps offers an interactive edutainment experience that fuses the learning of important technological concepts with fun indoor and outdoor activities.
