Grandparents Joining with Sottish Senior CitizensUnity Party

'Grandparents Apart Self Help Group Scotland' chairperson  Jimmy Deuchars has resigned from the group to join the ‘Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party’ (SSCUP) as list candidate for the Glasgow region in a bid to highlight the grossly one-sided unfair family laws.

Jimmy and Margaret set up the grandparents group in Glasgow when his wife and himself lost contact with their grandchildren when they had no where to turn for help or advice. “We did not want other grandparents/grandchildren to go through the devastation without support that we went through” said Jimmy. Under his Chairmanship the group has done very well in writing a book called 'Grandparents Speak out for Vulnerable Children' and the guidelines they produce for harmonious working together of grandparent/parent are working quite well. The group also worked with the Scottish Executive in the creation of The Parenting Agreement and the Charter for Grandchildren.

John Swinburne MSP gives Jimmy 100% backing as the issues concerned fall within the area for older people.
Although grandparents can be as young as 35 jimmy feels it is the is the obvious choice of party as every grandparent is set on the road to be an older person sooner or later and needs to start looking to the future in the SSCUP Manifesto.
