Lipitor and Grapefruit interaction

Studies have shown that eating grapefruit or drinking fruit juice containing grapefruit can cause adverse interactions with certain drugs.

The drugs with which grapefruit products consumption interacts are:

Drugs used to treat high cholesterol, including atorvastatin (Lipitor) and simvastatin (Zocor).
Drugs used to treat irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), including amiodarone (Cordarone) and disopyramide (Norpace).
According to The American Academy Of Family Physician patients taking any of the above mentioned drugs should tell there doctors whether they are taking grapefruit products or not before taking any of the drugs.
