Sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) sales are rising after slump

PRLog (Press Release) – According to Merchant Research & Consulting Ltd., demand for food grade sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) shows an upward trend as current consumption growth rate exceeds 3% a year.

China, which accounts for 40% of global phosphorus recovery (around 1m mt/y), has thoroughly increased production in order to meet market needs. Such countries as America, Kazakhstan and Russia are major phosphorus suppliers with 50% of global production. Around 65% of capacity in Russia and Kazakhstan is currently idled.

Sodium tripolyphosphate (or sodium triphosphate) is an intermediate compound between sodium metaphosphate and pyrophosphate. STTP of technical grade is used in the manufacture of detergents and in a number of other applications.

When applied in small volumes, STTP is not hazardous for a human being, which allows its application in water and food treatment systems, as well as for manufacture of medicines and cosmetics.
