SMA is a neuromuscular disease that kills more children under two than any other genetic disorder. It occurs in up to one in 6,000 births, and there is currently no cure.
“We’re always looking for opportunities to teach more people about spinal muscular atrophy,” said Fight SMA President Martha Slay. “Podcasting represents a unique opportunity to reach people in their homes, cars, and anywhere they can carry an mp3 player.”
The podcast, produced for Fight SMA by Steve Mullen of Richmond, Virginia’s EndGame Public Relations, LLC, features an interview with Natasha Wood. Ms. Wood, who has spinal muscular atrophy type 2, is currently performing in a one-woman autobiographical show in Los Angeles, California called Rolling With Laughter (http://www.rollingwithlaughter.com). The show will later be seen in New York City, Edinburgh, Scotland, and London, England.
The podcast can be found on the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Blog by Fight SMA, at this link: http://www.fightsma.org/
