Experience the Tour de France live – on the bike and with VIP access
Gaillard, France, April 2007 - Watching the Tour de France on television might be thrilling, but cycling on the same roads as the pros on the very same day they do is truly unbeatable! Imagine zipping along the same routes, attacking infamous climbs – though perhaps not as far and not as fast – crossing the finish line ahead of the pros and seeing your favorite cyclists right before your very eyes! With Cyclomundo, an Official Tour Operator for the Tour de France, you can spend an amazing week in very close proximity to the Tour de France and enjoy exclusive privileges, such as cycling part of a 2007 stage, having access to the “Village” where the pros will be signing in and getting ready for the day’s race, and having unique access to the VIP section “Izoard”.
Cyclomundo’s “Live From the Tour de France 2007” package takes place from July 19 – 26 and highlights an exclusive viewing of the finish of stage 14 (Mazamet - Plateau de Beille) from the VIP area "Izoard". In this access-restricted zone, Tour officials, pros, and legends mingle, and you can fully enjoy snacks and drinks while joining in the exhilarating ambiance, watching the race on multiple big screens, and toasting the winner when the pros start passing the finish line and the champagne begins flowing.
The ultimate experience, the “big cycling day”, occurs on the day of stage 15 (Foix - Loudenvielle - Le Louron). An early morning departure ensures you’ll be cycling ahead of the pros, on the same roads, already lined with cheering, high-spirited fans who encourage you up and over and across the finish line! Cyclomundo will provide detailed descriptions of the route, some useful insider tips, and a support van that will accompany you. And remember, unlike the pros, you won’t be timed, so you’ll be able to enjoy the atmosphere and the landscape, as well as the ride. You can choose to cover the last 50 miles of the stage to Loudenvielle with two major climbs, Port de Balès (5,265 ft.) and Col de Peyresourde (4,710 ft); or the last 24 miles with only one major climb.
Another high point of the “Live from the Tour de France” package involves access to the “Village du Tour” on July 24, before the start of stage 17 (Pau – Castel – Sarrazin). The “Village” is indeed exactly that, full of team managers, sponsors, family and friends of the pros, Tour officials, food stalls, and coffee stands. It is a unique and rare experience, to watch the pros coming out of their team cars, signing in for the day’s stage, hopping on their bikes, and lining up for the start of the race, just an arm’s length away, or even less, a spoke’s length away from you. Photo opportunities abound as you are bound to come across familiar faces.
Before and after the “big cycling day” and other Tour highlights, participants have the opportunity to go for several shorter and/or longer rides or to watch various parts of some Tour de France stages – not on TV, but live! - a minibus will drive you there. As far as mechanical issues go, in case your bike is not as fit as you, or requires some adjustments, a mechanic will be at your disposal - like for the pros. And by the way, one of the hotels is “La Flamme Rouge”, owned by former pro Frédéric Moncassin.
Cyclomundo, as an Official Tour Operator of the Tour de France, is please to be able to extend these exciting and unique privileges to you for a once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Tour de France. For more information, please visit www.cyclomundo.com, or e-mail info@cyclomundo.com.
